Looks great!  I will be interested to see the painted set on the bike.  I have similar plans for my '78F....right down to the seat and the Napolean mirrors.  Looks like you are running the new side covers with no emblems?

Yeah one of these days I'll do a paint process write up....

Thanks for the kind words, I actually am going to get new emblems, I just haven't gotten them yet, balancing every penny I can between this and the 450, mostly the 450 though

When you get to it, I would be interested to know where you get your sidecover badges from... they seem to be hard to come by.  Frankie has a bunch of the F1 sidecover badges, but none of the later F badges.  Maybe he could be talked into a run.

Chef,
Are you planning to stick with the Comstars or are you going to switch over to a spoked rim?  Also, I would be interested to know if you already switched over to the 530 chain and sprokets and what you ended up running for a chain.  Once we pull out of the deep freeze here in northern New England I am going to get my F3 build thread going... it is interesting to see how many F bike build threads are currently going in the project shop.

yeah those F3 logos aren't too plentiful or cheap ;)

I am planning on sticking with the comstars. to each their own but I really love the look of the comstars with this more modern resto-mod/cafe racer look I am going for. I also like spoked rims on a more classic cafe racer too. I am glad to have a bike with both ;)

I did already do the conversion. 17t/48t with a 530 x-ring chain. it's what I use on my K1, and its nice. works great, I wanted new sprockets and chain anyway so I did it all at once. I like that gear ratio and I have gotten the F3 up to 122mph so I don't think I am losing any speed over it. that's plenty fast for me. these old bikes make you feel like you're going faster than you actually are.

I will say that the F3 outruns the pants off the K1, but the K1 is much nicer to cruise around on, not to mention it is nicer to my back.
