Need Air Box for K6 / Questions
« on: November 06, 2013, 01:15:28 PM »
I'm looking to get an Air Box for my K6, a previous owner has placed Pods on the bike. Question: I've found an Air Box for a 76 Super Sport (that's an F right?); Is this Air Box compatible with my K6?

Hey Travis, dhall here. I don't think a SS box will work on your K6, but maybe another member here knows for sure.

Shouldn't matter as carb spacing is the same. A k6 box will have cb750f written on it, my stock one along with others have had that writing on it

Are you doing a resto or a rider. I think a K6 box still has wing style nuts at the bottom of the airbox which are easier to deal with when wanting to open. Will have to check my 76 F and K and compare, but think the F does not have those and may have an extra plumbing tube. For some weird reason the K air boxes have 750F stamped on them.

By the way Travis I was out and about the other day on my 750K6 visiting my Mom out off West Wendover. I remembered you telling me you lived on Elam Ave. I see in your PM now that it's S. Elam, but didn't remember that at the time. So I rode along from one end of Elam to the other (north and south) thinking maybe I might see your 750 out in front of you house or somthing. No luck. Whats you address on S Elam? Are you closer to Spring Garden or Friendly? Or we could just meet up at a location we both know. Just let me know.

Dhall man, I saw you believe it or not! It was Saturday around.. 3:30? Sure enough I was walking my dog heading towards my place when a K6 rode by from behind. I about flipped I was like, "Hey, wait! I have one of those too!"

Sure enough.. I go inside to get the dog off it's leash and then you cruised back by going the other way, so both times I missed being able to flag you down. Had a real strong feeling it was you.

Anyway, I'm that yellow house on the corner of S. Elam and Brice, bout 4 down from Fishbones. I keep it tucked away on the side of the house undercover. But I did get out riding about 20 minutes later, that was a gorgeous day.

Also Steve-O I'll send you a PM.

ekpent, thanks for checking, can you let me know the verdict when you get it?

Can anyone confirm if this looks like their K6 Box? Looks like it has the CB750-F stamped on it, which you guys said is oddly on the K6 airboxs. The only difference I'm seeing from the SS Air Boxes is that front bit under the boots is all the way across on a SS and the K6 one has it only under the 4 & 3 boot? I just need some advice here because none of the Ebay sellers know where their air boxes came from.

It will work regardless of correctness. The boots used are the same and the carb spacing is the same and the frame is the same in that area. It will bolt right up

The f IIRC has only a rear intake which better utilized that still air and made it quieter?

That is a K style box, should work OK on your 76. The first pic/link farther up your thread was an F model style box and you can see the differences in the two.
