Soooo, I actually decided to go with the $120 Ebay kit. I just couldn't justify the $500 dollar pistons for what essentially is just a recreational bike for me. I may or may not go with a performance cam. Haven't made up my mind yet. Either way I'll be sure and let you all know how the engine build goes.

Just wondering if you built the engine with the 120 kit off ebay, if you went with a performance cam and overall how you like it?  Mine has low compression and like you I cannot justify the big prices for the dynoman kits.  Thanks.

I'm finishing up mine tonight. Well putting the valve cover back on. So far the results are great in regard to power. I also had head work and the 650 cam. Even with the leaky head gasket which was really bad and unsyncd carbs it still had more power and torque then stock 550. I would do it again.
