Don R, I'm following both your threads, great info Sorry if I missed this but, is this engine a F2/F3 base?

Sorry, auctually it's a K2 Titled as a 73. It has the early front forks and for some reason a two hole rear hub.

 Edit, the two hole and rolled rim hub came off the bike shown to the left. And are back on it now.

MTC has a facebook page, I mentioned the project, they said great and to let them know if I need anything.

  I sat it aside for 5 years apparently. Meanwhile I was playing with sandcasts, diecasts and dragcars. I got spark from the ARD  mag and changed out the kick start mechanism but somewhere during assembly the tight spot came back. I dropped the engine back in the frame and have enjoyed looking at it while collecting more parts.

I bought this tank intending to paint it black, when it came it had a note that said it was striped by the Englishman at Laconia in the late 70's and sat on a shelf since the 80's. It's not my style but I can't bring myself to sand it off either. I did line the tank with alcohol proof epoxy liner.

Them 1000 horses in that rail was workin them harnesses a little.....😀

The one pic that shows the most. I'll post some more in my build thread. Does the rod look familiar to anyone? I'm wondering about torque numbers for the rod nut.

 No secrets here, I'm not sure if those are even good chains, seeing the splits in the rollers. This is when I took it apart for the first time. This bike was a local legend yet if anyone asked to see it Tom always said no. I think he was embarrassed to have parted it out so much. The wheelie bars, tank and good carbs were gone as were a lot of small parts robbed to service other bikes. I paid way too much for it but the rolled rear rim off the sandcast was bolted to it and the sandcast had the 16" rim that belonged on the drag bike. (they both had same owner at one time)
 I'm guilty of swapping the cb400F handlebars to an F and taking these off a cb900c.  I'll rectify that too.

I painted a lot of those fiberglass tanks back in the 70's...…..you did right not repainting it!

 Frank, I think it's all MTC or Honda except for the Engle cam. Some time I'll explore the lift on the cam. It doesn't appear that big but I'm betting it has a reduced base circle.  Tom told me once the tech guy at Cordova came by his pit and asked what all was done to the bike because he was within .02 of the class record. In case Tom got the record he let Tom know he'd want to verify the cc's and such.

I found this on Cycle X 's website. "Engine Case Main Bearing Alignment Repair". Under machine shop service.

This sounds like the hand operated tool I was trying to explain to you, our local guy used here +30 years ago. He never could get me to use it, because I didn't see how it was more accurate than an align hone. He claimed too, it only removed high spots that prevented free crankshaft rotation from fully torqued mains. Green cases thing....? Don't know if it's causing your tight spot...?

 What get's my goat is this thing was assembled and previously raced. I just haven't discovered what happened to it. Maybe the clue is the inability to kick it over even with the plugs out.
 My nephew has a photo of my grandfather in the 1910's and it appears my 18 year old self is standing next to him. That leads me to believe at some point I get a time machine, so on my list of things to go back and correct is spending more time with the guy that built and raced this bike.

That 1910 picture just  tests / proves  the rule: Good DNA, transfers.

At least you now that the bottom end was true blue and square with the world. Look at all those BBBBB.

What secret Engle camshaft made the Legend's, Legacy..?
