We have oil pressure and she cranks over on the busa starter. Now to remember the plug wiring order on the early ARD and put some gas in the IV bottle. I also need a set of tractor plug wires.

I was thinking I had marked cylinder number one on the cap but now I'm not seeing it.

This bike has no purpose except a thrill ride for me, The parts would be best used elsewhere but I remember my friend that raced it, I don't even remember seeing it when he rode it although I'm sure I did, it was parked in front of a bar on main st. a lot.

Now that my coffee has kicked in I realize #1 on this thing is wherever I put it when I timed it the first time and maybe 180* out since I removed it from the engine and dropped the pin back in the hole. I'll need to remove the cover where the dyno should be and find my TDC mark when #1 is at TDC and the #1 valves are closed.
I've shown people how to do that multiple times, old age and alcohol may be creeping up on me. L0L but not really laughing.

There is a mark on the distributor rotor pulley and the case it turns 1/2 engine speed, so it the #1 valves are closed, it can't be 180* out, #1 is factory marked at the top front terminal and it rotates counter clockwise as you look at the cap. Tractor supply only had 90* plug wires so I went to Farm king, same thing. Then I went to napa, they sold me the parts separately to make the set and 7mm solid core wire by the foot. There was 10 feet left on the roll so I bought it all.

I made new wires for the mag but can't seem to find spark plug terminal nuts to screw on the NGK's. I'm trying to not run the resistor caps with the magneto. Parts stores can't seem to get them, a friend just bought plugs with threaded caps, I may talk him out of them.

I'm also convinced my Ebay hayabusa starter is a turd. I think a stock one will work better.

If they're the old style caps with removable guts you can unscrew the brass widget that holds the resistor in place, throw in a screw to replace the resistor and then replace the widget Don, and you'll be good to go. Cheers, Terry.

I just wanted to start it today but already made a nice set of big end wires.

In other news,the parts for the GL1000 came today, 1500 coils from a friend and a new dyna, it's going to need new wires too but I have all of that already. I'm riding that one with a part time miss so this might get bumped off the lift.

I was busy all weekend selling 40 chevy parts but I did get plug nuts and put them on, it's down to a kill wire and fuel in the new homemade IV bottle to go for a startup.

These were parts I collected from salvage yards in the 70's after I first got the car. I have a complete front clip in the garage attic, 7 bumpers and 4 back fenders. I only sold parts that I have doubles of but was able to fatten the wallet and help a couple guys out. I did sell both of the wind up clocks, no spare needed, I built a new dash and don't have the glove box door it fits in anyway.

Are your frames raked ?
They would work good if you occasionally race..less twitchy.
Anyway a guy on here has a project bike with raked frame..might be worth looking at.

I have another one that is raked, sadly it's a late K0. (Edit, turns out to be an early K1 with some K0 parts). I'm tempted to unrake it but what's the fun in that? This is the original frame the PO raced. I was getting too far from what it was and decided to return it more to his, as raced configuration.
My long term goal is two to three cool cb750's and a low custom fat fendered bike trailer with air bags that matches my 40 chevy coupe. 40 rear fenders and a drop bed so no ramps. It's already built in my head. A long time ago I built a similar one for our jr. dragsters before I got an enclosed trailer. My youngest daughter was 13 and welded up a good part of it.

I bought a set of Webers and 12" koni's since doing anything to this beast. I rethunk the long swingarm, struts and slick. I have a rebuilt stock chrome swingarm that can go on it. I think a gs1100E swinger would fit too.

We've entered the monsoon season here, it won't stop raining. The farmers are starting to get really uneasy, between the prices and product in the bins not much has gotten planted.

I fell into 6 1/2 bikes a few years ago, a guy was moving away soon and had to free himself of a collection of non running bikes. I sold one 75 to David Silver, sold an un-rebuilt sandcast engine that was in a 75. Picked them pretty clean and sold them for what I paid. I still have a lot of those parts and a 78 gl1000 that became part of the deal. The chrome swingarm was in that batch, rebuilt and chromed but never installed. After I loaded all the bikes he said it's a shame we didn't meet sooner. We could have had some fun with those 750's.

Yep it's always nice to meet a good bloke when you're buying bikes and bits. The guy I bought the K2/F2 ("Goldie" that won bike of the month 10 years ago) was an engineering tutor at the military academy in Canberra, and a top bloke to boot. I bought the crashed bike and all his 750 spares for $1500, and sent him a set of Mikuni 33mm smooth bore carbs to re-space for me, to put on a big block CB750 engine that I sold in pieces to a member here.

He had access to a CNC mill and lathe, so offered to make me custom triple trees for another bike I was building, but that project got shelved. He was a great guy though, I meant to catch up with him when I moved to Canberra, but life got in the way and I never did see how he's getting on now. Still, he was a nice guy, and a extremely knowledgeable. Not so much about CB750's though, I bought my 69 diecast cases from him, he'd had the whole bike (engine #1010XXX) and he threw most of it, including the frame, in the trash.......... Oh well.
