pretty red bike now mine
« on: December 28, 2013, 12:51:08 PM »
It's taken 3 years but I finally managed to get my hands on this pretty red MT50.
The price was right "0"  ;D
Was seen by a friend of mine in a barn in a isolated bay about 2 hours drive from home. Farmer decided that I could make better use of it than him, had to share a few brews with him as payment. :D

got a chance to give it the old tyre kicking today.
the good: motor runs and sounds good, paint in good nick, tyres will do, under years of grime and some sort of heavy clay #$%* the chrome will clean up nicely.
the bad : needs new throttle and clutch cable, a tear in the seat, needs new throttle barrel, front brake and clutch perches and levers, exhaust is toast  >:(
all in all I'm a happy chappy.
Edit.... back tyre just blew bugger.

They're a pretty rare beast down this way. I've never seen on in Oz. Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine did a feature on them some time ago.
