Hey Tyler, huge respect for you when I hear some young person working their ass off in multiple jobs to make extra money. Especially when they want to use it to find their passions. Good on you!!!

It looks like you are on the home stretch to fire the bike. It looks fantastic.

Then comes the fun part of tuning and the shake down. Be patient and watch the range of your initial rides.

I use very light lithium (white) grease rather than WD40. The most useful thing you can do is heat up the rubber with a hair drier, even if the rubber is new. It softens them up and they will slide on MUCH easier.

Thanks for all the info and kind words guys.  This new job is really kicking my butt physically so I have been really drained lately, but I installed the new carbs tonight, no issues there, She started right up!  Only thing is apparently this winter I traded in my 350Four for a 350Twin, because she's only firing on cylinders 2 and 3.  Isn't that odd?  First off let me say the battery I was using was extremely low, probably ruined, but I was using a jump box, so Tomorrow I will buy a new battery and throw that in, Secondly the points haven't been adjusted since last season, another thing I Will get to tomorrow with a friend of mine who knows how to set them.  Think these could be causing the issue?  All pipes had exhaust coming from them but 1 an 4 where the only ones getting very hot. Let me know what you all think I should do!

+1 and get new plugs too.  Not sure what your jump box is, but high amp automotive chargers are not a good idea to use on a bike.

Thanks guys, Ok so today I figured out the problem.  Coil pack for number 2 and 3 was shot.  A quick trip to the salvage yard and 10$ later I had a decent set of coils.  The only issue was the frame mounts didnt line up, and it took almost 2 hours to attempt and switch the mounts because of stripped screws, but i got it.  She is running on all 4 now!  Idle was pretty high so i turned it down a little and it seems to be ok,  I still have to adjust the cables on the carb throttle body,  How do i know where it needs to be adjusted?  Also number 4 pipe has started smoking,  I did have quite a bit of oil in the pipe over the winter so im hoping that will reside.  I have not ridden it yet, waiting on the new battery to charge.   I will have a video up for you guys soon as I can!

    Battery charged-check, Helmet-check, Lights-check, best first ride ever-check.  All I had planned on doing was riding her around the block to see how everything was going, but it ran so well I ended up putting 19 miles on her tonight.  The throttle response is so smooth and instant. I love it!  The new gauges I bought are smooth as silk and don't bounce and wobble like my other ones did.  Also the Blue LED's in them looks great and I can actually see how fast I'm going at night rather then the dim, poor excuse for bulbs from the factory.  The low bars make for a more aggressive riding stance and at 6'2 its going to take some getting use to, but feels great!

     Only issue is the throttle and idle right now.  The throttle has quite a bit of play in it ( turns a little before the response ) but that will get worked out, and the idle is very high, 2.5k-3 at times.  I suspect this is from air getting in on the box as I tried to seal the seams but they may be leaking.  All in all I'm very excited that She's finally on the road again! Ill make a video and most it for ya guys ASAP.

Good to hear.  Yes, you need to adjust the excess play out of the cables, pretty simple, time for you to learn.

Then once fully warmed up, set the idle around 1500, I set by ear and not a certain number.

Brilliant news, and well done for keeping this thread going from start to finish. Sounds like you have a few teething probs, easily fixed, otherwise job done! Now be sure to go round the bike carefully, check every nut and bolt to be sure your shake-down run hasn't loosened anything.

actually, Honda calls for a certain amount of free in the throttle.  See your service manual for how to set it up.  If there is no free play the throttle will often not snap closed properly.

   Thanks for the input guys.  Ill get all the little things worked out!  Met up with some family on the more " Country" side of Maryland yesterday for dinner and rode the bike.  45miles round trip. Cruising on the beltway about 60mph at times and just for kicks brought her up to 80 for a few seconds. Besides that mostly side country roads with nice long curves and the new riding position showed its stripes! Now I'm getting used to being lower and more sporty.  Also note at the beginning of this thread I stated I wanted some mirrors I could actually see behind me and didn't vibrate like crazy,  Well these new ones do the job and are out of the way and look great!

   On the way there a nice guy on a big Ole Harley informed me my license plate was hanging on by one bolt.  Found some wire on the side of the highway to tie in place with a knot, an we were off. Everything ran as it should until the way home started loosing power and bogging out bad, I threw the petcock on reserve and it got a little better.  Seemed to get better if i moved the valve between "On" and "Reserve" back and forth.   Last season I was having some issues with the reserve not working great so I figured this could be the cause. 

     Limped her to a gas station and looked in the tank.  I could still see gas but not a ton, so I filled her up, back to on position and she fired up and got me home no issue what soever.  Thinking a new petcock is in the works for me soon.  I like to have a reserve just incase.  Well got home and I noticed some Oil this morning underneath the Clutch Cover, I assume the new seal is leaking, but hoping it will Swell up and stop!

  On to the choke.  With the work Harisuluv1 did to the carbs no choke is needed to start her up, when before it was a must.  But if you give it some choke she will rev like crazy, Normal right?  Also I know the 350's are common for squealing front brakes but mine scream even when I'm not braking, I can here it when I slow down and the engine noise decreases.  Thinking I need new pads maybe? Still happy with how its turning out, just trying to find all the little kinks.

Your squealing front brakes are probably a combination of pads and a glazed rotor unless you already reconditioned the rotor.

Pad squeal could also be due to a lack of grease on backside of pad. Many members use a hi-temp grease to aide in the reduction of squeal.... Good luck exercising that demon- double check your clearance on the rotor, just in case after bedding in, they're not retracting fully. A good wipe down with brake cleaner of the rotor can verify they're not in contact while running.

Your clutch cover may need to be cinched up a tad. Careful not to go overboard, but gaskets don't tend to swell up over time. They're either immersed and swell immediately, or they don't. If the leak persists, you have a poor mating surface and need to tend to it ultimately.

A trick for your mirrors: if you do get vibration with these later on, 2 choices, either some bar end anti-vibe inserts help a lot, Or, mount them to the bars with electrical tape inside the clamp. This can help insulte them from the metal bars, and will aide in clamping them down a bit tighter too.

For the constant squealing brakes...  back off the adjuster screw on the mounting bracket.  Not enough free play and it will squeal all the time.

Well guys, todays the day I officially consider this build done.  Just did a retighten and tune up of everything and she's all dialed in.  Cam chain is a little noisy but I plan to fix that.  I just want to say thank you to everyone who followed this thread since January and gave some 20 year old kid from Baltimore the knowledge you guys have over me.  Without you all I truly never would have done this.  Thanks guys.  As long as its ok with everyone I plan to update this thread every now and again with pictures of cool places I take the bike, stories that accompany them, and as always ask questions.

What a great job, Tyler.  The bike looks and sounds terrific.  Have a blast riding it.  I think this came up before (with Cal) but keep an eye on that leather bag so it doesn't get caught in the chain.

Thank you!!!  And the rear shock and length of the bag keep it from hitting.  Its a great small tool carrier!

Totally outstanding job!  The bike looks great mostly stock with just a few sensible mods and it's great to hear that you are putting the miles on. :)
