76' CB550f High Altitude Carb Settings - Colorado Help!
« on: January 15, 2014, 07:05:38 PM »
Hey everyone,

New to posting, but not new to the forum. I've been searching for colorado carb settings and can't seem to find anything solid.  I know that it all depends on the bike and mods etc... sooo here is what i'm working with.

MAC 4into1 exhaust
Stock airbox
going to attach a K&N air filter to that

Currently have 100 main Jets
38 pilots

The previous owner rebuilt the carbs, but when I bought it they were clogged pretty bad but mostly clean inside. I think he used some funky gas and it left a lot of yellow residue inside, also the tank was 'sealed' but i still found a lot of flakes and grime in there. I'm getting that done right now - sealed and keeping the original orange sunrise color.  Taking care of the rest myself for the most part.

Anyways just looking for some help on the high altitude settings that work well on a close to stock bike.  Also anyone in the Boulder/Denver area that feels inclined to come crank some wrenches and talk #$%* feel free to PM.  I'm fairly new to Motorcycles but i'm learning and having fun.  Can't wait for the spring to roll around!

Thanks everyone.  Posted a pic for your enjoyment with an original brown seat i found on Ebay that i'm super stoked about.
