Infamous Top Bridge Spacers!
« on: January 15, 2014, 07:21:16 PM »
I love my local Honda dealer... I've been looking around for the infamous 'D' washers that go on the top bridge fork tube clamp bolts - part # 53235-300-000. They are available in a few places, but pretty pricey for nothing more than a thick flat washer. I decided to check with my local shop. Adam, the parts manager, confirmed that they were discontinued (no surprise there) and had nothing in stock. He then hooked into the US supply database and showed me a short list of dealerships that showed them as being in stock for their inventories. I immediately called Honda-Suzuki of Willmington, NC and was able to order 3 of them. It was about $26 for the order and shipping. I have one spare and my family heirloom is missing these as well, hence the odd number of washers requested. According to the inventory I saw, they should still have about 7 of these on hand - give 'em a shout if you're looking for these... 910-799-6150

Or just shave head specific washers with a file just a smidge and have the same thickness as the d washers would have. Touch the edge with the grinder to square it off

Don't forget to grab 3 when you do it for when the grinder inevitably bites the washer and flings it

FYI- I just ordered 4 of the head washers per MCRiders post from a few years ago. When I received them all 4 had different thicknesses ranging from .085 / .089. None reached the desired .090 thickness let alone the .093 in MC's post. I picked the 2 thickest and it worked out fine. If you order these make sure you mic them first!

Nice your dealer hooked you up with that national database. Very handy but don't tell anybody  :D   My local dealer has used it for me to find, hard to find, NOS Suzuki GT750 parts. Cost them big bucks to have that I was told, something like 15K.

I guess it helps being on the 'frequent buyer' program there, then...  ;)
