yeah i figured out pretty quick that a wimpy take off is for the birds,yes it will spin but you feather it out and try and get as much speed as you can when you get to that timing light a mile away,believe me,it seems like one mile is way out there but it isnt at all,you need to be going fast as you can when you get there..and just hold it..be a hero man..lol..WAY FUN!

were the rc engines before the era of degreeing cams?even the triple has the 5,8.0,cam sprockets and seem to be pretty fast!bill

Well they allowed some degreeing just not as precise as slotted. And yes we slotted our own,I got some cobby  ones! Jay, were you the first to offer slotted cam sprockets for the CB750?

I think so. WE were the first to offer new billet sprockets for all the bikes. Before that people were slotting stockers.

BILL: Have you ever drag raced a bike with a lock-up, delay box, two step, air shifter, shift light, wheelie bars, slick, carbs with velocity stacks, and slammed 2" off the ground ?? I could sell you those 34mm flat slides but first how much does that head flow ? put on those rubber boots that have a 30.33mm hole in the center how much flow now........ on the KZ'S and Suzuki's those mounting rubber flanges can be port matched for a straight flow into the hogged out epoxy runners and these big holes and bigger valves can use the 34mm. Flat slides. Have the person who flows your head give you a carb size to start with per the flow.  You would look real stupid putting your monster on the two step and letting go off the button and a big fuel bog throws you over the handle bars after coming off that two step. Watched a guy do that about three times and before he hurt himself I walk over and told him to take off that accelerator rod so the motor would not load up on the two step. I had to show him what I was talking about , not in his instruction book ??? Be careful what you buy to go fast as it could cause you to lose control and get hurt.
PS. That rod is not on the 34mm I have but I can send it with the carbs and you can see how when you 1/4 turn that throttle all the way open on the two step it is flooding your intakes with fuel = BOG-BOG-BACKFIRE- HOLD ON

Got a surprise set coming already for Cobra motor! 8) I think they may work well for that application. Calendar Girl getting 915 and Mike's head! ;D

We need either a set of those CycleEx distributed 34mm Mikuni flatslides or a set of 33mm Keihin CR's racked for the SOHC.

BILL: You do realize that a PRO-BIKE = BARS,BOX and all the other add on PARTS will take a while to figure out like the front and rear gears to have shift light on in your face at 1320' trying to go into 6th gear and your bike is a 5 speed ? How much weight on those lockup arms, two step rpm's with no creeping, adjusting that fine screw on your clutch [ GAST ] lever so the clutch and two step come alive at just the right time for that perfect launch. You better go to ever test and tune or track rental you can afford, how much air in rear slick ???? How does GEORGE BRYCE tell you to set up your wheelie bars [ to not break loose your rear tire POGOING ], what RPM to set shift light at for the gear ratio ......... this will not be a street bike sitting higher than a dirt bike and you shifting by hand and foot. Those burn out pictures look cool but that's not the win slip at the ticket booth at the end of the 1320'. Win with the AUTOMATIC or the CALENDER bike then throw the money $$$$$$$$ at the PRO BIKE to try to win $185-$200 at local events to re-coupe your time and money...... GOOD LUCK with that venture. PRO EVENT at $1500 to win= they buy back to the second round = 12-20 rounds better bring clutch parts and a few helpers.  Do-not want to see you get hurt or lose a bigggggg pile of money, seen both ever weekend for the past 20-25 years at a track DRAG RACING MOTORCYCLES.

POPS, thanks, my sentiments exactly! Just building a bike for fun...ain't got the bucks or desire to play with the "big boys" Im about 20-30 years behind. As far as advice, I'll take any, wouldn't try this adventure w/out Frank/Dragracer...he's my insurance!!
I  just want to build a respectful CB750 that'll run in the 10's! Keep up the advice, I need it. Frank already discussed wheelie bar length with me! ;D

Let's talk 2 seconds = 10.90ET. or 12.90ET. :  The HONDAMATIC running 12's something [ shifting 1 time ] will leave first most times in S/ET unless some person on a TURTLE 400CC HONDAMATIC running 17.38 is in the other lane = your race to win with a better light and a DEAD ON ET. time .... they will not catch you at the 1000' mark but will running all out at the 1319' = to late to lift and set up [ CAN YOU SAY THEY WILL BREAK OUT ]. COBRA PRO/CLASS bike: So now SUPER STREET 10.90 ET. them box racers running 8.20 leaving on your dial-in in their box will be running 147-155 mph to your 122-130 mph and you with a bad light = at 1000' they will be WOMPING YOU them running 8.90 for that win.  Wheelie bar length is important but the wheel height is critical so you do-not unload the rear tire. I'll send you a GEORGE BRYCE [ STAR RACING ] school notes on setting wheelie bars. Win 20-30 rounds on that 750-915cc HONDAMATIC ST/BK ET. the other lane will hate and fear you just ask CHAD after years of beat the best on this simple Powerglide HONDA MOTORCYCLE = L and D  or LOW then DRIVE.
When you get your COBRA ready for carbs I will send you a trick bank of 33mm roundslide to dyno with on that motor,  Flat slides or CR are $700-$1200 on e-bay but these PERFECT  like new Mukuni 33mm round slides are $300.
