Topic: Is this side cover sold somewhere?

Hi

My 750 cafe project is beginning to take form, and I really would like to replace the original Super Sport side covers.
I really like the side covers used in this build, and the left one seems to be a Maier with some slight modifications. But the right one I can´t figure out where to buy (if it isn´t a custom made cover):

It looks a lot like them, however it does seems like the front part of the side covers on the bike in the link is slightly shorter, though maybe it has just been trimmed down a bit

Thanks for the help, now I just have to find out whether it is possible to buy the Maier side covers anywhere in Europe, so to avoid being raped by the Danish postal service

Those are K covers, the F covers are totally different. Get a set of K covers from forum member FrankenFrankenstuff, his are by far the best quality available. Can't say enough about his products.

As much as I would like to get the side covers from FrankenFrankenstuff, I don´t think I can make them fit my F frame without welding new grommet holders. The Maier´s uses bolts and nuts, which means I can use them without having to weld first (I think)

What year of 750F do you have?, I know the 77-78 K & F covers are interchangeable within those years. I've got a 77k, when I bought it it was wearing 77-78f side covers which use the stock mounting points. I have since got the proper K covers on it, they plug and play on those years. Not sure about the 76f's covers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but arent the screw holes on the maiers are in the same spots that the oem side covers tabs would be?

So after google imaging cb750f's the 76, 77-78 look like they share the same covers. So you should theoretically fit F or K covers on either respective model, late model bikes that is and I'd go so far as to guess the frame mounting tabs for side covers didn't change for the early years either, just the actual look of the sidecover depending on the model year.

Those look to be as said "Maier" side covers. "K" model on an "F". As for mounting, they use a type of "expandable" bolting system that fit into the regular tab location. If you remove the bolts your tabs should still be there and all you would need are the rubber gromets and Franks side covers. They will pop right in. You can use either late "K" of "F" on a "F" bike.

I'm using Franks 77/78 "K" covers on my 78 "F" bike. Plus those Maier's side covers are flimsy and will brake if your not carful. Franks are very thick, durable and made better than OEM.

Great news that the k7/k8 side covers are interchangeable with the 77-78 f covers, as mine is a 1978 supersport F2. This makes everything a lot easier
Then I just have to order the Frankenfrankenstuffs then.

^^^All good, glad it helped. You'll be glad you went with Frankenfrankenstuff's covers, they are better than the originals by far. Love mine, they were so nice once I painted them that somebody stole my right side one...

Are you sure the wind didn't steal it?

My right side cover had a bad habit of coming off as I would pass a large truck on the expressway....till I got new grommets!

I'm certain, I rode to work and it was on the bike. The next morning as I pushed it out of the garage it was missing, I retraced my ride to and from work exactly and nothing was found. My side cover grommets were tight, Frankie's covers are beefed up a bit in the tabs so its almsot hard to get off sometimes. When I looked at the cover on the other side my leg covers the airbox shield at the front and my saddle bag butts up against the back end of it, pretty doubtfull it blew off.

It's always the oil tanks side that people lose or break, so I'm pretty sure some #$%* took it. I'll be on the look out this summer, when I painted it I gave the backside a good coat of rubberized rocker guard. If I see it ill know its mine and whoever owns the bike I find it on is going to get #$%*ed up, or they'll come out to find their bike on the ground. Anyone that owns a certain type of bike or car and steals something off of another of the same is a piece of garbage.
