CB550f - Hanger Bolts & Engine Guard
« on: February 04, 2014, 05:00:05 PM »
This might be a shot in the dark but maybe somebody may have dealt with a similar scenario.

I want to put on the engine guard (was off when I purchased the bike) and now after taking off the hanger bolts I ruined one in the process.  Twisted it to #$%*.  SO after going to local hardware stores etc all I can find is bolts that are not fully threaded. I did however find a site that sales bulk from china ( http://www.alibaba.com/showroom/a2-70-stainless-steel-bolts.html  incase anyone was wondering)

Do I need a fully threaded bolt? It looks as though the hanger supports would require a bolt that has thread all the way to bolthead.

I've added some pictures to give some perspective.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

Thanks CalJ for the info.  I don't have the machinery to duplicate the threads unfortunately but I appreciate the input.

I may get the partial threaded bolts and test it out. With the engine guard the bolt will go the opposite direction and thread into the guard itself.  I've not tested partial threaded yet so just posting to get some insight.
