That is the Honda SOHC cb750 snowmobile engine from back in the '70's. There was crankcase oil run through the intake to keep things from freezing up. The torque convertor clutch went on the right hand side....you can see the shaft. There was no transmission. I think there was some sort of overdrive between the crankshaft speed and the convertor?

The Honda snowmobile was a flop....too heavy probably?... maybe lacking in power compared to the two strokes? Only a few were made and tested.

There were other pictures of this engine posted on this site a couple of years ago, along with the snowmobile itself. It was ugly!!

23tbucket wins the cigar.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I think this is the only one known to exist and was a prototype.
There were some made that just used the normal CB750 motor but they were found to be to heavy compared to the two strokes.
Honda made several snowmos back in the day with different motors and I seem to remember Mark at M3 Racing had one.

Did a little digging and that engine was used in a proto Polaris.  Mark (M3) could probably shed some light on it.
