large oil filter housing

hi all, i came across a oil filter housing it is the same diameter as a standard one but a inch longer any ideas what its off ?  ??? cheers rocco

Hi Rocco.The part you mention is I believe the filter housing for CB350 four and CB400F..This housing holds 6 more oz. of oil than the 750 /550 housings. I have these fitted to both my 750 and 1100F.It also uses the standard 750 filter but has an aluminum spacer and a longer filter bolt than 750.You will find visual of what I describe on a 350/400F parts diagram.

The SOHC CB650 also had a longer oil filter housing.

Yes that is correct.CB 650 would be same parts as I described.Looking at parts diagram I see that 650 also used 350F (333) centre number for bolt and spacer/collar.

When I took off my oil filter housing on my '76 CB550F, I found an aluminum spacer under it. Turned out to be a spacer so that you can add an oil cooler to the oil filter. Had (2) fitting holes in it that were plugged.
