Throttle cable length
« on: March 31, 2014, 07:45:38 PM »
I just recently tried to hook up the throttle cables after changing the stock handle bars this winter on my 78 cb550k.I beleive they were super bars or euro bars. The cables now seem to be to long, how do you measure the size I need or does someone know the size I need. Thanks

Just run the cable to the throttle as if you were going to hook it up. Position it so the slack is taken up and measure how much cable you have left over. You want a little slack so it's free to move left/right when you turn the bars. I had MotionPro make shorter cables, I believe I got 4" shorter for throttle. I went from factory bars to clip ons on a 75 550F.

Be aware that Honda delivered different length cables with different handle bars. You may consult the Parts List for area code.

Thanks for the response guys, is it possible to use the ones i have by rerouting them looking at the old bars it doesn't seem like a huge difference in length.
