Question re:tire fitment and Lesters
« on: April 05, 2014, 08:02:58 AM »
Stock wheel size on cb550 is 1.85" front and rear and stock inch tire sizes are 3.25" front and 3.75" rear.  Lester rim size is 2.15" front and rear.  I've looked high and low and through a bajillion charts - theoretically, you can put the same 3.25 front tire and 3.75 rear (more likely 4.00, as it is readily available) on the 2.15" rims.  Is this true and, more importantly, recommended?  By moving up a rim size, does the tire size need a corresponding change to retain stock (or as much as possible) characteristics?

Thanks for any/all insight.

Cheers,
G

The difference is not really much, If you wanted to go up one size tire I'd assume it would be fine or stock would work too. .30 difference is just over 1/4".
