« on: April 13, 2014, 02:58:17 pm »
.I scraped off the decals on a 78 CB550,  goo remains
I've tried:

lacquer thinner
Industrial Strength Goo Gone
acetone
rubbing alcohol

nothing removes the rubbery goo,  any ideas are appreciated.

Maybe WD 40 or something similiar. With some rubbing it sometimes gets under the goo and makes it slippery as you rub. In any event, it is gonna suck.

Be careful with laquer thinner, you might need a paint job. Fingernails, WD, a sharpened toothbrush handle, 3m even makes glue remover.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Denatured Alcohol. Don't use acetone as it will eat your paint. Normal rubbing alcohol doesn't work the same as DA.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S.
