What's the easy way to install the 400F exhaust?
« on: April 17, 2014, 07:03:55 PM »
As in the title, what's the best sequence to do this in? I have a repro system, so everything is separate, header pipes, collector, muffler. Have all new gaskets and clamps etc in hand.

Left to my own devices I thought I'd mount the collector somewhat loosely to the muffler, mount the muffler to the bike, and then header pipes from cylinders 1-4 in order. Nut everything loosely, wiggle it all to fit and then tighten it up slowly across the headers, finish tightening at the collector.

How do the cool guys do it?

I just got a set of Motad pipes and came with instructions about best way to fit, not sure what brand yours are, but here is a pic of the instructions if that helps.
Not fitted mine yet, followed the instructions, was pretty easy until I discovered two pipes were too short, so waiting for my replacements.
Basically fit two pipes onto muffler, then do it up, connect last two.
