hello with a question
« on: May 22, 2005, 05:42:02 PM »
hello everyone
glad I find this site
very nice!!!!!!!!
ok, question
on a 73 750, the oil line nipples(where the line hook up(under neath the the rubber)to the motor)
are 1/2inch(huge)
has anybody figure out a way to make(replace, upgrade, rig) these nipples smaller like 1/4?
I know  lowridders by summers offers a cool adapter but he has a backorder problem.
anybody?

I got a very good answer over at 750 choppers.
don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
limiting the amount of oil flow(fron stock) is not a good idea.

again
hello
I like the site

interesting question,my harley uses 3/8 inch id lines to and from the tank to the pump.now,i wonder if honda used the 1/2 inch line due to the high revs the engine turns.any ideas anyone?

I would have to guess that Honda knew what it was doing when they determined the diameter needed to move sufficient volumes of oil at the max sustained RPM's. Don't forget this oil must be moved from the lower case to the tank, then to the engine for lubrication. I for one would be v-e-r-y reluctant to alter the diameter(s) anywhere along the way.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Yeah, diminishing the oil flow rate seems to be contradictory to the air/oil cooling process.  Adding an oil cooler may help, but I would still be a little flinchy riding hard on an August afternoon with those little hoses...
