78 750F Oil leaks
« on: May 03, 2014, 05:34:19 PM »
I replaced my oil pan gasket today with a brand new one. I didn't use any gasket sealer or cement because of advice read on this forum. It has a pretty good leak coming from it now right next to the forward-most oil line that goes into the engine. Also, the oil line that that leak is right next to has oil seeping out from the top of wear the line meets the engine. Is there supposed to be a gasket there? I am not seeing any on schematics.

No gasket, just a o-ring.

Are you sure also that the pan oil leak you see isn't coming from that oil line?

I am not 100% sure but I am fairly confident it is. I'll replace the O-rings in the lines and then see if there is still oil leaking from around there.

Cool. I just think it's too much of a coincidence that your oil line would leak as well as your pan in the same place at the same time.

You were right in thinking that. I got two O-rings from O-Riley's today and no more leakage! Except the oil lines are wet looking, so I think they might be leak from the top and it soaks down through the outer weaving. But, I think I will wait to replace those. I just want to get this thing on the road.
