Check FZRonline and FZRarchives. Both have great info on these bikes. I know the 600 has a habit of frying the stock VRR. Replacing it with an R6 unit fixes it right up. The 1000 might suffer the same issue but can't remember.

Well, I had a text conversation with the guy. I was planning to go look at it today, but he was booked up.

He bought it from a friend in town that he knows. The friend's brother died (it was his bike), so he still needs to apply for a title for it (said it's not going to be an issue).

I started to ask him price-wise what is he thinking…..and he said $650……

That's a good price to pay for an FZR1000 that still looks to be in rather good condition. In-fact, it's a steal. Of course, a little bit of work with tuning (and need to get a stock air box and possibly some jets), but that isn't a whole lot of work.

What's risky is of course not being able to ride the bike before buying. I can bring my compression gauge over there which would give me some more confidence. One should really ride one of these before buying to check the transmission as well, which I may not be able to do.

But either way, $650 is a pretty good buy, even if not being able to ride it. He seems very honest (he's on a local forum here in town).

Thoughts?
