Strange lighting question
« on: September 18, 2006, 07:58:35 PM »
The backlighting on my '78 CB750K gauges isn't working.  I replaced the bulbs as the easiest first fix.  No go.  Then, while riding at dusk, I see that the backlighting comes up and operates/blinks with my turn signals!  >:(  I'm quite sure that it's the gauge lights, and not just light from the signal indicators.

How did this happen? What did previous owner do to create this?  How do I fix it?

I'm an electrical dummy, and lost with wiring diagrams?

Help?  :-\

Open the headlight and spend some time in a wiring diagram. There is no rocket science in these bikes so this should be easy to fix. Best I can tell the previous fixer  has the gauge lights set as the ground wiring. The flicker is because the main circut is using it as a ground.

Not poking, next time tech forum is a good place to post these questions.
