1978 550k electrical ?
« on: May 29, 2014, 03:53:03 PM »
recently i had a fuse blow on me. i replaced it, continued to ride it for a few day with no problem. later on in the weekend when i went to start up the bike i had no power to anything. my first reaction was to check the battery, it was ok sitting at 13v. i then checked the fuses all of them were ok as well swapped them all out just to be safe. still had no power.

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, if they could offer some advice as to what steps to take to rectify the situation. i know that with a bike is age the wiring and connections can be fragile.

any and all solutions are welcome,

Thanks

Chris

Just for fun wiggle the wires that go into the ignition switch with it keyed on to see if you get a flicker of power. You can trace the power around with a meter a little bit also.

There is a hondaman replacement unit for the fuses, that could help

After wiggling the wires you might want to break out the voltmeter and see if there is a broken wire.  Been there with a brake light wire.

Ignition switch or ignition switch connector, should be investigated.
