I bought bike number 5 this week.
« on: June 07, 2014, 05:14:23 PM »
In the news today, I received word last week that my ex wants to sell all of the motorcycles that I built and maintained.  I bought this from her for $550 yesterday.  I didn't have any money in it from the start so I think I got a good deal. This bike came to us with a seized engine from sitting and I swapped a motor from a bike with 18k original.  I gave the original motor from this bike to Dragon79 in the middle of a rebuild.

For the record, my ex and I are now good friends and better off for it.  She was always one of my favorite people on the planet and we screwed it up by getting married.

Maybe I should not say "all".  I built four-ish bikes when we were together and I took two that were mine.  I bought a '75 400f for her but I decided that I liked it.  I built that one for myself and bought her a '77, which was the same as her first bike from years ago.  I built that one and gave it to her as a gift.  I can't lay claim to a gift.  This 550 came from an auction that she went to before we were together.  She bought it for $300 with a stuck motor.  A motor showed up and I did the work right after we moved in together.  She always considered it hers even thought I built it so I never registered it or rode it.  I, more or less, left her the bikes that we always considered hers.  I did all of the work to keep them running.  I kept my bikes.  I have no regrets and I don't begrudge   $500 for what I know to be a great bike.

Sounds fair.  The last thing my wife would want if we ever split is my bikes.
But, she has no idea of the value of them!

I forgot to add that when were freshly in love and living in separate states, she bought me my F3 for $400.  It was a turd when we got it but we got it running.  I also forgot to add that she was a motorcycle mechanic with her own business in San Francisco about 20 years ago.  She had a love affair for these old Hondas years ago but she doesn't care much for them anymore.

I did too actually.  Having been through a divorce, I was hesitant to go down those roads but it seems Frankencake and his ex are on good terms so that's cool.

Exactly. Pics or she isn't hot!   ::)

I was interested until I saw she wasn't from Vermont, only moved there. Current spouse is a Vermonter, so I prefer the "breed".

Oh no, Tews! Vermonters are definitely a "breed apart". I do enjoy breeding with her though.

If I recall correctly, their license plates sport the motto, "Your rules don't apply HERE!" Or something to that effect.

@Retro - !!!!!!!! (My hands up)

I will put it to you this way.  I never have, nor will I ever, slum.  In other words, she is pretty hot, great in the sack, can't cook for #$%* and totally insane.  She isn't in to motorcycles at all anymore and the last time I saw her, she was happily engaged to who I refer to as "tattooed #$%* boy".  That was last Thursday, though.  He could be kicked out of what was MY house by now.  She threw him out once before earlier this year.  That poor guy has to live with that insane little trollop.  She's nuts, guys.  She's nuts.

Sorry, no pics.  I'm not that pissed at her anymore.  I do have some pics that would.....um........ upset her if she found them on the internet.  I'll take the higher road.

She's got red hair "down there".  Probably no relation.

This is the day she brought my F3 home.

Lol, crazy and she can't cook. You're better off without her for sure, that's a deal breaker for sure. Especially the crazy part, all women have some of that in them to some degree.

I got lucky with my wife, she's hot, cooks well, can change her own oil and set the valves on her own bikes. She's one of the good ones, I count my lucky stars.
