Number 2 cylinder not firing
« on: June 18, 2014, 04:47:53 PM »
Got done rebuilding my 76 cb750f motor a few months ago. Has been running great until the past two weeks. I lost an air pod riding one day and kept riding it without it. Seemed to lose a little power and acceleration since the air/fuel mixture was off. Today after not running it since sunday the number two cylinder isnt firing right. At idle and low RPMs is runs fine, but after 3500 RPMs the cylinder stops firing. After a two minute ride thru 3 gears the pipe is 90% cooler than the other three. Regapped all my plugs except #2(dont have the right size socket).

Spark.  Air.  Fuel.
check for spark on #2 with plug against head.
check plug cap with Ohm meter.... does the issue follow if you swap the 2/3 coil wires?

clean and check gap for both points.  any spark arc at the wires for the condensers?
float height set correctly? main and pilot jets clean and clear?

Think I had a loss of vacuum seal on the carb boot. Something got over heated and broke. Looks like I will be building a new head this summer
