Tank is cleaned out. After the acetone, I swirled around some ATF so it wouldnt rust. In the process of cleaning out the tank, found a rectanglular plastic piece floating around that I took out. Not sure if its supposed to be in there or the previous owner had it in there to help remove out any rust.

Just put back in the petcock and will try to play around with her some more this weekend. In doing so, I wanted to ask, what fuel filters are there? The petcock looks like a straw with nothing filtering. Am I missing something? Also, since there was no hose before from the petcock to anything else, anyone have a picture of where it should be going to?

Thanks,
John

So the wife went out of town and even though it was like 95 degrees out, thought I would try to install the Pamco ignition. It's safe to say that everything looked Egyptian to me.

Fuel, spark, and air.. I thought.. So since I didn't know how to do the ignition yet, I thought I would look at how to connect the fuel tank. Right now the fuel petcock goes no where. I looked for hoses that weren't connected to anything and I found the following:

Mystery hose #1

And the other end of it looks like it ends here:

Mystery hose #2

And the other end of it looks like it ends here (a bunch of hoses not attached to anything, that right?)

Mystery hose #3

And the other end of it looks like it ends here:

So I'm wondering:
- What the hoses above should connect to
- What should connect to my fuel petcock
- Which direction should the nipple for the fuel petcock point to, towards the front of the bike or rear?

Thanks,
John

HOSE # 2 GOES IN HOLE ON BOTTOM OF THE TANK AT THE REAR TO DRAIN WATER OUT OF GAS FILL AREA. REMEMBER TO HOOK UP THE TWO WIRES FOR FUEL GAUGE THAT GOES TO THE PLASTIC BOX ON THE FRONT DOWN TUBE [ LOTS WIRES IN THAT LITTLE PLASTIC BOX.

HOSE # 1 GOES TO YOUR PETCOCK AND THE NIPPLE WILL BE FACING TO THE REAR. I HAVE ONE THAT COMES OUT THE BACK FOR A STRAIGHT SHOT TO THE FUEL LINE TO CARB.

HOSE #3 GOES FROM VALVE COVER TO AIR BOX TO PUT THE OIL SMOKE BACK INTO THE CARBS TO BURN.

ALL THOSE TUBES AT THE BOTTOM ARE THE 4 CARBS DRAINS AND THE BIG ONE IS TO DRAIN AIR BOX.

Thanks Pops.

Will try to take a look at it this week to see if everything connects back together. Still trying to install the new coils before I put the tank back on.

Thanks,
John

I don't mean to step on toes here, but I'd highly suggest you DO NOT use a KREEM product. They're junk, and will eventually begin to peel off after a year or so...

Use POR15. I've coated tanks with KREEM only to have them fail inside 2-3 years. Then I switched to POR15 and have NEVER had a problem. Much better product. Follow directions religiously, even allowing for a longer dry time before the final coat, and a longer cure time and you will have no issues.

Honestly, if it's just flash rust or the brownish stain on the metal, I would not use any "sealer". Personally, I would only use something like kreem or por only if it actually had rust pieces flaking off.
