I just got home actually, Bill. Today I was greeted by a sleeping Sam. I took my wife and young daughter along, and some Beef Pad Thai. Sam woke promptly, and looked pretty good. After a few minutes, he plowed straight in and gave the Pad Thai a good workout: most food I've seen him eat combined.
Apparently, he also ate 2 breakfasts this morning, so that is also good news. He was much more spry today and was able to raise himself out of bed to use the loo. Even walking much better. Seems putting some fuel in the tank makes the motor run a lot better! Who knew?
We had a good long visit and he was bright and sharp as a tack. Scars are healing up very nicely and most bruises have subsided. To look at him, you'd think the worst he'd had was a flu, as he isn't quite 100% flush yet.
His conversation is loads better and he's taking on more current surroundings better daily. I've made arrangements with the staff for him to be showered again in the morning after breakfast, and I've left a shaving kit for him. If he hasn't cleaned up by the time I arrive late tomorrow am, I'll see to it. He seems to be much happier clean and dapper.
If I can get him on a walk around the ward after a shower and before lunch, I think that will help too. Appears to be time to start working him out more each day to get his strength up as his equilibrium appears to be rebounding nicely.
Latest pic of his noggin' and his lower back. The bruise on his low back was edge to edge, about a foot tall when I first saw him last Sunday. So I view this as very good progress!
Keep the thoughts and wishes coming, they're paying huge dividends to Sam!
