Your looking much better now Sam. :) :) Nasty clunk on the head though. Sure it was drag racing that caused it, or was it one of the ladies with a rolling pin that you've been chasing  ;D ;D Get well soon, there's a ride on the R1 waiting when your fit. I should have been thrashing the R1 at Sculthorpe today, but the meeting was cancelled. Just as well really as it's chucking it down. Didn't bother with the East Kirby sprint last week for the same reason.

All the best

LOL! Cheers, Simon. Bad news, his accident has corrected that nuance. Perhaps that's the metric of returning to good health; if he should suddenly begin repeating himself?

I'll pass along your tidings when I go up shortly this evening.

I just got home actually, Bill. Today I was greeted by a sleeping Sam. I took my wife and young daughter along, and some Beef Pad Thai. Sam woke promptly, and looked pretty good. After a few minutes, he plowed straight in and gave the Pad Thai a good workout: most food I've seen him eat combined.

Apparently, he also ate 2 breakfasts this morning, so that is also good news. He was much more spry today and was able to raise himself out of bed to use the loo. Even walking much better. Seems putting some fuel in the tank makes the motor run a lot better! Who knew?

We had a good long visit and he was bright and sharp as a tack. Scars are healing up very nicely and most bruises have subsided. To look at him, you'd think the worst he'd had was a flu, as he isn't quite 100% flush yet.

His conversation is loads better and he's taking on more current surroundings better daily. I've made arrangements with the staff for him to be showered again in the morning after breakfast, and I've left a shaving kit for him. If he hasn't cleaned up by the time I arrive late tomorrow am, I'll see to it. He seems to be much happier clean and dapper.

If I can get him on a walk around the ward after a shower and before lunch, I think that will help too. Appears to be time to start working him out more each day to get his strength up as his equilibrium appears to be rebounding nicely.

Latest pic of his noggin' and his lower back. The bruise on his low back was edge to edge, about a foot tall when I first saw him last Sunday. So I view this as very good progress!

Keep the thoughts and wishes coming, they're paying huge dividends to Sam!

I hope he'll be flying as I don't suspect his arms are up to swimming. And, we've all seen how he struggles to stay on bikes recently...  ;)

Actually, I believe he will be discharged to Bill's care later this week. Do a bit of convalescing in Atlanta, then use his original return ticket to fly back. There is rumor that Jonathan may fly over to escort him home.

Bill had mentioned maybe asking Sam to stay until early August in Georgia to give Sam enough time to get his feet back under him, and maybe catch Race 3 in Valdosta. Have to play it all day-by-day and let Sam point the way.

Hi Jim. As much as the old man would like a pint and a big fat steak, you have to remember he will be with Bill to recouparate in order to get fitter ready for his flight back. What a lot of people don't realise is that he will need to go straight back in to hospital as soon as he rolls off the plane in the UK to start acute brain injury rehabilitation. While at Bills, Bill will make sure that he gets the rest that he needs and wont accept loads of visitors all the time and definitely not going out toto the local hooters. Please respect the old man, let him rest and recouparate in order to get home and make a full recovery and, one day lets hope he will be back at the track, even if it is just to spectate.

Jonathan.

No, Jim we want you and Dave and others to visit, but we got to keep things low key. Sammy still fragile and has to take it easy! He's got to progress, not regress. Maybe have y'all over for a beef stew etc. We'll figure it out, thanks, Dr. Bill! ;D

I saw Sam this morning, just after breakfast. He was a bit tires this morning, but looked and sounded good. Brought him a cup of real coffee and bakery blueberry muffin. Those perked him up straight away!

I saw significant progress in Sam mentally this morning. Not only did he know the day, but the date. In fact, he looked at the board in his room, and noted that the staff had not updated it from yesterday. That is significant. He's making great strides recovering mentally.

Physically, he was able to pop up out of his chair to go to the loo. The staff insist upon accompanying him as a precaution though. However, he's moving under his own power now, slowly but much more steadily. I left a short while later as his PT aide came in to walk him about the hospital. Even she commented at his progress.

Chin up all, he's doing really well. I'm hopeful that when he returns home, the medics there will encounter a healthy man and get him home straight away after observing him for a short bit.

I'll be heading up for supper with Sam and update after tonight's visit, maybe with a fresh picture if Sam is in the mood for a photo shoot.

We've just finished up a hit of dinner and he's gabbing away with Jonathan. The two of the are keeping AT&T in the black.

Keith, I've passed on your earlier message and your generosity. I'll tell you for Sam, he's deeply moved and ever grateful. I'm certain he will be anxious to see all the team in GA as time and opportunity permits.

I'll try and catch a photo shortly for everyone to enjoy-

Evening almost done. Had a decent walk about after supper, after calls with Jonathan and $2 Bill. Here's a shot for your enjoyment-

And proof that the emails, cards and calls do make a difference in his recovery

Going home to Atlanta seems confirmed for Friday. Just two more days until the Warden paroles Sam!

Nah, this whole thread's about Sam. I just get to be a guest narrator. Besides, you see the last two pics? The first is him looking at me, the second was Bill's call. That ought to tell you how much he prefers "others" company to mine.

Besides, if I posted a pic of myself, then the Feds would know where to find me and what I look like.  8)

Yeah, I can imagine what Sam was saying to Bill: "Some bloody twit with spiked blue hair, wearing a pink tutu just showed up here." Prove it wasn't so. ;D
