So why would Seafoam be any better than say the prescribed amount of carb/fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank occasionally?
weeeeell.... it is a different sort of product... practically ALL FI/carb cleaners are composed of petroleum distillates-----i am not convinced that cheaper ones are anything other than kerosene and some red dye... seafoam smells like alcohol to me... the MSDS, however, reveals that the primary ingredients are pale oil (a highly refined........... petroleum distillate, similar to castor oil), naphtha (a solvent--- "white gas" or zippo fluid), and IPA (presumably NOT the beer, despite the smell
![Huh ???](http://forums.sohc4.net/Smileys/default/huh.gif)
)... of course, they use a "propeietary blend", so we will never know what else is in there, if anything...
compare to "techron" (another effective product BTW)... 50% distillates, 35% stoddard solvent (found in WD40 and paint/varnish--- reputed to be a "rubber-eater"), naphtha, benzene (uber-toxic and cancer-causing solvent that increases octane of gasoline and is effective at cutting grease/sludge), and xylene, an isomer of benzene...
