Topic: Cb750 Forks on Cb550?

I am having abit of a delima - i will be getting a new triple clamp in the near future which will require longer forks, which i have decided that CB750 forks will be used, however, my 550 fork springs have gone bad, and i would rather not rebuild them if i am going to put new forks on soon .  Will the Cb750 forks work on the Cb550 stock sett up (for the time being) if i let the extra length stick out of the top?

Not sure if your purchase is on the way or not, but the FAQ's is a good place to look when contemplating fork swaps, and there are other more complete lists if you search elsewhere.
