Hi from London
« on: July 22, 2014, 11:14:30 AM »
Hi, my name is Dan, I work full time as a bicycle mechanic and enjoy working on just about anything that requires tools, common sense and a bit of ingenuity. I always have numerous "projects" and like to make, fix and learn as opposed to have somebody else do things for me. I suppose I'm quote useful at most manual jobs but fear I may fall in to the "jack of all trades, master of none" category.

As I ride bikes (mountain,BMX, fixed gear and road) I've always admired motorbikes but for some reason never owned one, until now. So maybe I'm doing this a bit backwards but I've begun rebuilding a Honda CB650SC custom that I luckily acquired for free and so far I don't have a licence but for me the build is almost more important than riding it. I guess I wouldn't settle for one without the other!.

About the bike, well it was stood for around a year but ran up until that point although with some electrical issues I believe. The loom is a bit hacked and it was previously re sprayed pretty well but not to my taste. For the most part it's all original and just missing the petrol tank. I've stripped it completely and begun the cleaning process. Main issue is the frame has had the top of the spine ground down and requires welding as well as some tabs being hammered flat!.

Anyway that'll do, I meant this to be short and sweet not a biography!

Hi Dan and welcome.

You will get lots of support and help here. Best approach is to open a build thread and post some pics, that gets everybody out of the woodwork. You'll need a few posts under your belt first so reply here a few times. Like what team do you support, what's your favourite beer and so on etc

Hi, Yep I can already say I've found plenty of useful information here. I will get a build thread started to share my trials and tribulations. I don't follow any sport so have no tm to support but when it comes to beer I'm quite a fan haha! I'f I had to choose a favourite I'd have to go Belgian I guess and something of the Lambic variety always is a treat!

Cheers!
