Salutations from Virginia!
« on: July 30, 2014, 02:26:14 PM »
Hey forum friends!

I live in south east Virginia and am new to motorcycling and motorcycle repair. My bike is a 1979 Honda CB650 which has a storied past but starts on the first try (with choke), idles (without choke) and stops. It has the UJM look I want, enough power to put a grin on my face and the support of a great forum (I've been lurking here for a while now). The PO only had it for a few weeks and adjusted the valves, cleaned and bench synced the carbs, and cleaned the brake master cylinder. Before he had it it sat at one of his buddies houses for about two years, before that it belonged to a coworker of his and collected dust for about five years. Some where along the line it accumulated 27k miles. I've ordered a new air filter for it (Amazon had a decent deal on the K&N HA-0750) and bought new spark plugs to put in after I am sure everything else is in order. Hey, well it's nice to meet all of you I gotta run and take care of some things. Have a great day!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
