520 spockets for CB500/550

Anyone have a source for 520 conversion sprockets for the 500/550s?

Rears can be thinned on a lathe.
Fronts are tougher, can be turned, but they are fairly hard.
 Could he ground by handheld grinder if you do one side at a time.
 However, buy the front if you can, i suspect some fronts may be softer than original , after you remove required amount..

I think some of the XR series hondas had a 520 sprocket that will fit the front of the 500/550.  If it isn't an XR then it is definately a Honda dirtbike, it has been a little while. ;D

My 83 XL600R uses the same countershaft sprocket in a 520 as my 74 CB550 as well as my CB350 and CB450 vintage racers. I have a complete set of 520 sprockets, front and rear, for both racers from Sprocket Specialists.

I'm going through this same process. I bought a 520 front sprocket from Sprocket Specialists, part # 5033-17. I couldn't find a 520 steel rear sprocket anywhere, only expensive aluminum ones that probably wear quickly. So I ordered a steel 530 rear sprocket from JT Sprockets and will get it machined down to the correct thickness.

I think that's the route I will be going. I can't find the rear, even the aluminum ones. Ive found the fronts from a few sources. What's the point in only selling the front??

Can't run 530 o-ring or x-ring without risk of damaging the cases.
520 is narrower and the o-ring/x-ring version is case safe.

Well that's because you're using synthetic oil in the engine. Synthetic engine oil will make that standard chains last forever too. Even in dusty conditions.  ;D

I started out using synthetic oil, made the popcorn taste like #$%* ;D
