CM185T In Gear, but Free Revving
« on: August 22, 2014, 07:21:31 AM »
Hi everyone

Trying to figure out what's wrong with my girlfriends 1978 CM185T Twinstar. She pulled up to a red light and thought she heard the clang of metal falling. Next thing you know, she puts it in first and the engine revs like its in neutral. No visible damage from the outside. Previously had a slipping clutch.

I met her at a nearby gas station. Any gear I put it in it will just rev like its in neutral. We just came back from a 1000km trip to Ucluelet from Vancouver so she's lucky it didn't crap out then.

Anyone have any idea what's broken?

Pull off the chain cover, and check to make sure the sprocket is intact. If that is not the problem. The clutch is worn out.
