1978 CB750A Parts Bike for Sale
« on: August 24, 2014, 09:18:39 PM »
Hey guys. I have some 1978 Hondamatic CB750A stuff for sale if anyone's interested. I essentially have a motor and frame with exhaust. I'd like to sell the motor and frame together and it includes a lowered front end (2" cut off travel springs and spacers installed and I have a set of stock springs that would be included) and 11.5" rear shocks. The exhaust is available separately as are the wheels. The wheels are from a 1978 CB750F Supersport.

The motor has 21,000 miles on it and has had a 1974 K camshaft installed at 13,000 miles. The head gasket is leaking a little, but the motor does run (was taken off the road in May 2014) and has a set of points installed a year ago. It is currently still registered, but does not have a title (the don't require them in CT) I stripped a lot of the part I had on this bike for another build so this is what's left. The reason there's a hole in the side tappet cover above the points is because I had an oil gauge installed there. It's tapped for a 1/4" NPT fitting. What you see is what you'd get.

I'm willing to entertain offers. The bike is located in southeastern Connecticut.

Here's the exhaust. It's not super clean, but it doesn't have any rot. Most of the rust is on the surface only. Should clean up pretty nice with some TLC.

Is the rear swing arm set up for the disk brake and is there a mount for the rear master cylinder on the frame?

No. That's a 78 K swingarm. I used the wheels that were originally on this bike for my current 750 and had bought a parts bike with these wheels on it, so that rear is an 18" from a CB750F. The swingarm from a same year SuperSport has a bracket on the top for the brake stay whereas K and A bikes have the bracket on the bottom for the drum brake. Any adaptation for a rear disc brake would require fabricating a mount for a rear master cylinder or finding Supersport bracket from the same year which were very similar to the A's.
