Hmm- that red does look good also. What to do, the color it was born with or that Purdy 'resale' red.

Resale Red....funny Eric, but we all know you rarely sell!

This one will definitely be a keeper--unless-- I turn into a crackhead in the future and have to sell everything I own to feed my habit   ;D   Anybody ever know one of these people.  One of my old riding pals went to the 'dark' side back in the day.

That's a great find Eric, well done! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

No no no, not that one. It should come south to Texas, especially if you decide on Candy Super Red!

I am unsure if you mean selling all their worldly possessions for crack or to make space for more motorcycles.

I can't say I don't know a motorcycle nut or two who had to give up hard substance abuse to make room in their life for more motorcycles.

Nice Z900! Re-sale red is always a good choice!

Hopefully get back to it this week. Ended up with a side job of replacing all the soffet and fascia and my Son's mothers house or ex I guess she could be called that was falling off. Tough being a nice guy with too many tools and being a lowly laborer knowing the menial skills.

Its a good runner. My buddy pulled out his 74 Z1 from the shop and we tore around together this evening for about 30 miles for my shakedown run. All went very well.
Cleaned the carbs today and it went very quick and easy as all was pretty clean, no gum. Drained the tank and checked the petcock out while off the bike. All good and filters present. Did the front brake, tossed it back together, aired the tires and cleaned/lubed the chain and we were outa here. Wish all my new projects went this smooth and easy. Think I will bring it home from the shop for the rest of the season and get some more miles on it before storage. Definitely a little different than my old trusty 750.

That's great Eric, and you're right, they're easier to bring back from the dead than CB750's, mainly due to the Mikuni carbs, they're so much better than Keihins! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Inside of those carbs look great, you are so lucky.  How do you like the feel of the Z? The Z is slightly taller than a 750, the stock riding position is very comfortable for me.  And the power!

Yep, a Z1 engine would be a great starter motor for a Rocket III! ;D

The bike does fit me better than the CB, feels like a little more leg room. Power feels very good so far and haven't taken it past 6K yet where it feels like it is really starting to come on. No problem quickly ripping it up to 90 mph. Trying to stay out of trouble without proper plate and insurance.  Not even sure what the stock jets should be yet but this one my buddy says have been increased from stock. It has 117.5 mains in it.  Now to decide what to get rid of to fund this one to bring it up back to a stock look .   Hope the guy that I made an offer on his Suzuki GS1000 doesn't call me back   ;D

Guessing they changed jets when the aftermarket exhaust was put on?  Pick one of your many 750's to sell, you may not even miss it.
When road testing a new bike, I make a copy of my proof of insurance from another bike and put it under the seat just in case I get pulled over, then just say you've transferred it but haven't received the new paperwork yet.
Think I'll roll my Z out today for a ride if the rain holds off....

Buy the GS1000 Eric, you'll love it. More power than the Z1, and they were the best handling Japanese bikes of the era. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yes are paths have crossed a couple times up around the Traverse City area. Gave me a tour of his new Depot warehouse in Cedar that was loaded and took me to his house to show me more stuff once. Nothing like have a couple of 0 miles H2's sitting in your bedroom.

It's amazing what some people have in their garages, there was a guy here in Melbourne selling a new zero mile Suzuki RG500 a couple of weeks ago, I don't know how anyone could own one for years without being tempted to ride it? I couldn't! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I supposedly have an afternoon appointment to check out the 79 GS1000E this afternoon Terry. This deal has been one of the slowest going I have had in a long time with spotty communication etc. Guess I will just drive the 100 miles and just check it out in person. Price is very good and am told it is titled and running and on the road. You never know with these things till their in the trailer.  ;)   Here is a teaser.

Sounds great Eric, if it's a '79 it'll be a 1000, not an 1100, is it a spoke wheel model or does it have mags? OK, I suppose I better just wait for the pics............. ;D

Whoops made a typo Terry. Its a 1979 GS1000EN. Yes I did buy it. Fixed a few niggles that it had and have ridden it once so far and it felt very nice. Hopefully get a little better weather and time can take a little longer jaunt before its all over around here. Has a couple upgrades I see so far, electronic ignition and K&N air filter.  You want that one in the container also  :D
