I've always had brand new bikes so I've never had to deal with this and not sure what to do. Whoever had this bike before me decided to pour something red inside the tank and apparently let it seep into the fuel tank petcock. I bought the bike with the carbs off because the previous owner was in the middle of ordering a rebuild kit but sold it to me before all that happened. It looks like he had a bigger mess than just just the carbs now it's my mess. What should I do to clean up the inside of this tank and I would imagine I need a brand new petcock.

Buy 5 gallons of white vinegar. Soak for a few days. Pressure wash the inside and repeat if you need to .

I read somewhere about this Dragon's Blood stuff that seals the inside of tanks. I just googled it could this be what's in there? There's also a couple of areas of epoxy on the underside where there might have had leak or two.

Dragon's blood is caswell tank liner with a red tint to see easier, that is all. Is the red that is in the tank a coating in some spots, gummy in others? Or is it just red gunk in the tank?

Most stabilizers are green in color after sitting in there but I have seen a red one from some dirtbike I fixed for a friend

How you see the pics in my original post is what it looks like in there. That's about all I can see taking pics with my phone. Doesn't look like it's completely coated. Mostly on the hump and lower creases on each side. It feels hard to me on the hump. I can't reach the bottom creases which looks to be gummy but idk. The red stuff in the petcock was gummy.

Is it coated on the top, underside of the tank?

If it was dragon's blood I doubt it would fail. Caswell is some good stuff, not like others. As for removing it, I'm not sure. Could try MEK in there but you really gotta do it right and plug it up well

For the petcock, drop it in a glass jar filled with acetone. The acetone will dissolve the gunk built up in the petcock (very likely). The vinegar will remove rust, may not remove the liner. The MEK or Acetone will.

Would it be worth it to just buy a new petcock with new gaskets? This one the screws are almost stripped and gaskets are trash not to mention gunked up with the red goop in and around the inlet tube.

I honestly think the inside of the tank needs to be redone. I'm willing to redo the Red-Kote too but I'm just feeling all kinds of flaking off action under the top side of the tank and don't feel confident at all about it. So which chemical would work best to get it out?

I would save some time, money and trouble and just look for a MUCH better used tank.

Buy a new tank! It does not look like a CB750 that yamiya750 sell.
It must be alternatives on eBay for all kind of old CB's.

I was trying to restore the bike as close to stock as possible with stock jets and air box, get it running (still don't know if it runs) ride it around as is for a little while and take some pics and videos of it like that before I start to mod it. This tank mess is making me want to skip all that and start modding now. Probably a different tank, bigger jets, velocity stacks or pods, 4 into 1 exhaust... y'all know how it goes, all the typical mods.

Made some cork gaskets, bought a gallon of Acetone, haven't put it in yet though. Still trying to decide if I want to put screws or nuts inside to help loosen it up or just let it soak by itself for a couple days on each side and see what that does.

Well day 2 of soaking in Acetone I learned that it also dissolves 2 part epoxy. Those two patches on the underside are now separating from the metal and leaking out. Now I have a tank with rust, liner failing and 2 holes at the bottom. Wonderful.
