Cb750f tank and seat on cb750k
« on: October 01, 2006, 06:54:10 PM »
I have a cb750 k4 and I look the look of the f better. My seat and sidecovers are pretty much shot and the tank is pretty crappy looking, rusty inside and needs repainted pretty bad (spraypaint right now.) How hard is it to put a cb750f tank, seat and sidecovers onto this bike?

i think you will have to use the same model seat and tank. you will have to make sure your seat hinges are on the same side. the side panels will most likely be different. DISCLAIMER: I may be completely wrong. ;)

Hm, looking around, I suspect the tank may fit alright. But for the seat it seems to comes down to the hinges, which might be different in the two models. I think the 750f has a longer tank than the 750k, so the hinges on my bike may be too far forward. Also, how does the tailpiece connect? Similar to the rear fender on the k models?

I wouldnt worry about the hinges, they are not that hard to manipulate.  Im sure you could make it work, even if its not a straight "bolt on" procedure.

The F tank is longer but it still fits the mounts. The back of the F tank hangs over it where the K tank will end right at it. Since the tank is longer on the F, the seat is mounted further back. The fender attaches to the F style grab bar. I have a 77 F and i'm changing my seat, tank, and fender to a K model.

I'm trying to do the same thing, but I want to put a 19XX F model seat on a 1976 K. Has anyone had any luck with this? Will I need to weld new hinges?

I think the F models have a longer rear frame as do the 77 and 78 K, The taillight and rear cowl should come from the F as well as the grab bar for turn signals if used, but the rear frame holes are farther back on the longer frame. that is where the fab work will begin. I don't know if the rear cowl will fit properly over the K taillight and fender. It appears the 77 and78 K's share a lot more parts with the F.

I was afraid that might be the case... I think I'll just keep my eyes peeled for one and figure out how to mount it when I get it. Seems to be one of those things where you can't really plan how to do it, you've just gotta do it! Thanks for the info.
