RC distributor

Do all the RC distributor drive housings have the small hole in this picture?  Mine starts to leak oil after a short ride and it is coming from this hole.  Its definitely not the seal because I can see the oil trail from this vent hole when I pull the housing.  It goes all the way through into where the distributor goes into the housing.  I am assuming it is a vent to keep pressure from building up but it starts leaking oil after just a couple of miles.   I lowered the oil level a little bit also from spec just to see if it stopped but still leaks.

i have a RC, drive ,an yes, has a vent hole the same , yes ,i too get bit of oil leakage from it

Thanks.  I was hoping I could plug it off, guess it will have to sit on the shelf because it leaks oil and runs out onto the exhaust.

I am going to try some stuff with it.  I might decide to stick it on my drag bike.  I dont think it will leak in that short amount of run time.

Yeah I am going to do some looking and see how I could run a vent line up and out of the housing.

I don't recall leaking being a problem.....been a long time though, blue72turbo runs one. They won't let you run if it's leaking oil and they see it!  ;D

              That's BLUE71TURBO !  HA HA !   I do not run a R.C.angle drive. I'm running a A.R.D. CDM  Magneto.  I do have a R.C angle drive for a
               KAWASAKI 900-1000 .  Mine has the small hole. It's for oil to get to the upper distributor drive or pressure relief i'm thinking. I don't see
               I don't see how yours is leaking. The hole should be sealed against the engine case.   ;)

The hole doesn't seat up against anything it just vents into the open space between the cases and the distributor housing.  I agree it is a pressure relief for the distributor.

  Here is the location of the vent hole on the R.C. Kawasaki angle drive. Way different than the Honda version.
