That reminds me of the expression, "Chrome don't get you home."

Man, that brake stay came out looking nice! Wish I could use it on this build, oh well ;) There's a bunch more little stuff I haven't opened up yet, will post pix as I start putting things back together.

Period correct lowering blocks back to new. No plans on using these, so PM me if interested.

Looking good Rafi, I was a bit worried when I first saw your powder coated carbs, but it looks like you've done a meticulous job of cleaning all the surplus powder out of them, so I'm sure they'll work as well as they look! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks Terry!

I should have clarified when I said fuel passages, I meant only the part by the fuel Ts. None of the tiny idle/need/main passages had anything on them, and I absolutely made sure of it, so hopefully it will work well :)

Well, thanks uncle Tez, I'm actually glad you're keep an eye out on this build :) I'm hoping things will pick up soon as I got word from JMR that my head is nearly done. Few odds and ends remaining on the engine internals, then they'll all be heading to cryo treatment. Gonna try and keep working on the chassis tomorrow, balance wheels and put the front forks together now that the I finally have everything back from the chromer...

Crank is back from APE. Plan was to only get it balanced, but somehow this one got mixed up with the big boys and ended up at 19lbs. Big Jay from APE contacted me and suggested that the lightened one will work better for a road racer anyway, but did offer to find a different crank and start over. Lightened, balanced and fluted oil holes, I'm just going to run with it  8)

Extra goodness at the same price.  You will have slightly less flywheel effect, so it will rev more quickly and might have a little less torque at the bottom.

Made my rear brake actuator rod today using a poor man's lathe, as in self centering die holder thingy. Parts are all from McMaster and non metric. Located a proper 6mm metric clevis pin on the UK ebay in stainless but too cost prohibitive. McMaster has metric stuff, just not in stainless for the sizes I needed. I ended up using a 1/4" SS rod (2') with a 1/4-28 threaded SS clevis rod end. The pin dia is a perfect fit.

So, who wants to machine a simple knurled adjuster knob thingy for the other end ;D ;D?

Its a bit long at 2' but I'll chop it when close to assembly. Came out nice and straight :)

Baked cookies in the background  :P :P got carried away on that new sunstar sprocket but turned out nice. Blanchard ground rotor looks too good for drillin and thinnin, so skipping.

Not a lot of time today, but put these back together, dampers feel great and are leak free on both ends, knock on wood. These have pieces that are zinced, chromed, painted, powdered and reconditioned (rubbers), may not be perfect but the look is exactly what I was after.

Pretty busy weekend so far, but managed to squeeze some time for an experiment. I had a SS round bar in 1/2" dia, which is a hair over 12mm of the rear bake panel lever insert thingy. I filed it down to size using my other poor man's lathe, aka the drill press. Chucked the rod on there, set up the base so the file is grounded true and let it rip. Drilling the 1/4" hole through was the real challenge as my drill press isn't the best at holding steady. Just did that by holding the piece on the bench vise and free handing smaller dia bits up to 1/4". Its a teeeeny bit off center but hardly visible, fits well. I still think I'd rather find a more elegantly done piece, but this is a good fall back. I ordered a couple thumb screws recommended by Prokop, they work like a charm! Another good fall back ;) Time to locate a SS compression spring (mcmaster probably has it) and call it done.

Working late, still wanted to get some stuff done so took on the forks. All new everything, but as I was collecting parts to put together, I realized I'm missing the two 6x10mm hex bolts for the drains  >:( Decided to keep going and put together what I have on hand. New fork tubes form z1parts, everything coated with mineral based singer oil for assembly and prelube. Torqued the bottom drain screws with their copper washers without much hassle. Have a set of new progressives along with the rechromed tube caps and their new o-rings, will get back to this when I have those two little missing buggers.

Also finished up making the rear brake stay out of a SS flat bar, came out nice but I may round the corners some more, pix later.

Got to the starter today, full of carbon crud as expected, but there was a ton of some kinda light weight oil all over everything (over lubed?). Cleaned it all up, resurfaced the contact surface (commutator strip?) and got the wheel spacers plated in the background. They were pretty far gone for reuse as is, so stripped and plated. I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND THE RETAINER CIRCLIP FOR LESTER REAR WHEEL. Any idea where to get one or what size it is?

Tore off the old brittle sleeving, installed new from Vintage connections. All new rubbers and brushes, put it all back together with singer machine oil and tested, buttery smoooooth and quiet.

AND I can't upload pix anymore, wonder what's up.

Was that the starter I sent you?  If yes, no idea why all the oil.  It came from NM in a parts lot I bought.

@Steve yep, that's the one, nothing to worry, just over lubed. Cleaned up spotless with some CRC quick dry electronics cleaner, spins great after assembly.
