Apply Decals straight
« on: October 27, 2014, 10:03:43 AM »
I'm about to put my custom decals on my tank to paint over as a stencil.  I'm a little curious how do you tell what is straight?  My bike will sit relatively stock.  I might try to lower it later but probably not for now.  Is the bottom of the tank a fairly good guide for straight?  If I set up the bare frame with the tank on it, what can I measure for level?

I'm not looking for perfection just pretty close.  same thing with the side covers.

Decal is a skull and cross bones with HONDA underneath it.

bike will not have the trim on the tank.

I will use fine line tape and mark the lower edge by following the curve of the tank but up about a quarter of an inch. It will be my guide.

Like others have said cue off of a reference. In your case use the tank bottom edge as 'upright'. If not your eye will be drawn to it and look wrong
