I've got an old honda generator. 2600W I traded some work for it, put on a new carb and changed the oil, it's been our power at the drag strip for 10 years or so. It's an older loud one. I put an extra muffler on it once and it made no difference at all. I used to carry a carpet surround to put around it, that knocked down the noise a lot.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I was ratting around in my garage today and I found a motorised scooter that I'd offered to repair for brother-in-law 2 or 3 Christmas's ago, it's got a tiny Honda 4 stroke engine on it, but the sprockets are tiny, with a smaller pitch than a SOHC4 camchain.

Dave (the B-I-L) is a garbo so he's not worried that I haven't been able to fix it, as he found it with the chain and rear sprocket missing one day at the tip. It's a pity as it's a nice little scooter, and the little Honda engine still runs. (or at least ran last time I tried to start it) Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

ha ha ha but the show must go on?us aussies know how to climb a ladder, except for perhaps poor molly meldrum?

On 15 December 2011, Meldrum was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition after being found unconscious in the backyard of his home in Richmond. He is believed to have fallen off a ladder from a height of around three metres.[68] He was placed under intensive care in a sedated state and had surgery for his head injuries.[85] As well as the head injuries, Meldrum had a broken shoulder, broken ribs, a punctured lung and cracked vertebrae.[86] Meldrum had been with Steve Vizard on radio discussing the importance of health on the morning of the accident.[67][68] By 27 December, further surgery to his chest injuries had occurred and his sedation levels were reduced. His brother said Meldrum had "spoken some words but they have no context".[87]

On 8 January 2012, his brother Brian said Meldrum was breathing on his own and having conversations, but added his recovery would be slow.[88] On 19 January Meldrum was taken out of hospital and moved into a rehabilitation centre. In April he gave his first public interview since the accident.[89] A few months after the accident in 2012, Meldrum interviewed British pop singer Elton John and American pop singer Katy Perry.

Yeah Dave, after the Hoddle Street Massacre back in the 1980's, there was a gun "Hand Back" programme where unlicensed gun owners could hand back their guns without any fear of prosecution. Some folks couldn't be bothered handing their guns in though, so they just shoved them in with their rubbish.

Dave's (my B-I-L) father Ken, who was a garbologist too, brought over a Winchester 12 gauge single barrel shotty and a .22 rifle that he'd pulled out of bins that day, and a few days later he picked up another .22 and an 1895 Mauser. Ken died in 2002, and I "inherited" his guns, but handed them all in earlier this year, maybe I should have just put them in with my rubbish? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yep, Davey (another mate) was standing in line to renew his shooters license just after Hoddle Street, and an old guy came into the cop shop and handed in a pair of matched duelling pistols in a wooden case. Davey tried to convince him that he didn't have to hand them in, but he just wanted to get rid of them, and the cop behind the counter was very keen to take them off him.

I thought that was the end of the story, but years later I was watching a show on Victorian Police forensics, which was filmed at the cop lab in Macleod. They showed all the guns that they have for ballistic testing, and opened a wooden case, which contained two matched duelling pistols. The reporter asked where they acquired them, and they said that they were handed in after Hoddle Street. Cheers, Terry. ;D
