Carps are farmed in Czech country since 12 century or so, it was meat you could eat on Friday.

Different species than asian carp, originally came from Danube.

It is a traditional Christmas fish,  breaded and fried carp is ok, but nothing really special.

That was the only thing I hated about Christmas - carp eating.

Grass Carp have taken off quite well, introduced as "sterile males" they started reproducing and wreak havoc on the aquatic flora.

One is reported to have killed someone who was dragging a sein, it hopped the sein and hit the guy in the chest, knocked the breath out of him sent him into the water.
