1977 cb550 airbox installation

hey guys! i finished up my cb550 build awhile ago and god to i love this bike. ANYWAY!

the one thing i couldnt figure out is how to install the damn air filter/ air filter box. can anyone give me some pictures, a how to, or a video on how to install it? its bot more brackets than im used to seeing for a simple airbox. thanks guys!

hey looks great man,its too hard to describe,like bend your left wrist and hold a bolt etc,just gotta trial and error.

Your engine, particularly in the first picture, looks great. Wish mine looked like that.
For the airbox installation, maybe Sohron has covered that in pictures.
I think the secret is: put everything in place but loose and then start tightening things.

you speak the truth! however, the airbox wasn't installed when i purchased the bike  :P ;)

There is only one way this will go into place, and it is a convoluted path filled with cursing and wiggling and scratched knuckles.   At Leary that is how it goes the first couple times you do it...

Love your bike! I have the same model in Candy Presto Red...

It helps to have small hands, I kept pinching, scratching and getting mine stuck, I believe I had to remove the carbs and drink two beers though.

Tripp,

I wish I was that far on my '77 F2!!!!  I did get new intake rubbers, and that is supposed to be a big help.  If you did not, try heating your rubbers so that they get pliable again, and that should ease the process.  I have heard the real difficulty lies with 35 year old, stiff intakes.

woops, i may have been less than clear for most of ya! i have the intake plenum installed "the hard part", i couldnt figure out how to get the airfilter box in. now, i think i have it figured out. i just have to brave the cold an actually do it  ;D
