CB750 Maintenance stand?
« on: November 28, 2014, 05:46:00 PM »
Many of you no doubt no longer have the stock pipes and opted for a 4 into 1 pipes that won't allow you to use the center stand. What kind of stand have you come up with that allows you to get the rear wheel off the ground for wheel and chain maintenance?

I have four suggestions:
spool style lifts - you can get them that dont use a spool and just pickup the underside of the swing arm.

Center style lift - May interfere with the exhaust

Center style jack - May or may not interfere

These guys have a decent selection, if you dont buy from them you can at least see whats available. They just happen to be 10mins from my house

build a wooden cradle out of plywood and 2x4's make it so that the exhaust goes down the middle and the sides go up and lift on the lower frame tubes then use a generic motorcycle jack

Are you looking for a jack like that or more of a paddock stand type? I know that several paddock stand manufacturers make stands that use a little paddle to raise the rear rather than spools.

Thanks for the input. I already have a motorcycle lift (whole bike) so I really just need something that engages the swing arm without fouling the pipe.

Paddock stand that doesn't use spools is your answer

Or you could just put the centerstand back in place with just the tube, no spring or pinch bolts. It comes in/out in 15 seconds of fiddling for maintenance. No Cstand for riding, but still easy maintenance
