Can I ask for help?
« on: January 01, 2015, 03:43:54 PM »
As some know I came up with an inside the petcock sintered bronze fuel filter idea. It is in tips and trick in the carb section. Since I am retired and sometimes do not have enough to do I am thinking of selling these filters. Hondaman gave it his approval ( I sent him one) which meant a lot to me. I also have a couple of the respected pros on this site looking at them and will test when the weather allows. I know they work great. If I do this I would like to offer a model to fit any bike it would work on. I need a removeable bowl with fuel coming in the center ( not two places like some). I also would like (hope this is OK) to see what other brands and models it could work on. On ebay checking out petcocks it appears old CB350's and SL125's would work. Each of these petcocks is also used on a bunch of bikes. I am willing to buy a petcock to fit my filter to if that petcock fits a lot of bikes. With everyone experience can you give me leads of brands and models this might work on? Thanks very much! Dan  PS: I will check out any lead even if you are not sure. I know it would work on my 1966 Yamaha 305 YM-1 but not many of those out there on the road.

Those sintered filters were standard for all the US carb cars. The first time I pulled one out I was like what the he!! Is this?

That said, most of the bowls I have seen are two holed, primary would run thru the sintered element but it seems reserve would bypass
The dirty girl-1976 cb750k, Ebay 836, Tracy bodykit
Round top carbs w/ 38 pilots, middle needle position, airscrew 7/8ths out, 122 main jet
Stock airbox w/ drop in K&N, Hooker 4-1

Don't trust me alone with a claw hammer and some pliers

Whaleman's design works great. I have it on my daily rider bike and haven't had and carb debris issue since installation.

Nothing that can clog our carbs can get through this filter. It is rated at 40 microns which is .0016". This is way smaller than slow jet holes the first thing to clog in my experience. Dan

I read that thread where you had Mark check it out and was going to get one, then completely forgot about it. This was a good reminder, I'll be going with these on both my 750s. I'll PM you Dan.

If you go to Ace a Hardware to get a spring, I had good luck with #148.

David B, My first one was Ace Hardware #127. If I were to try to sell these the Ace one's are too expensive. If you want to buy say 100 online the cost is way less to keep the selling cost down. Dan
