So this is the beginning of my build thread. It is a little late as I bought the original bike in January 2010. I made some initial changes, did some paint and rewired her before I started riding in March. In June 2010 I got into a pretty bad accident with a semi that decided to make a right hand turn from the center lane across the right land I was in. Well after that she sat for about 2 years because I just simply didn't have the money to fix her up. In August of 2012 I bought new forks to replace my destroyed ones and swapped out the other damaged parts just to get her on the road and have problems shifting, oil not cycling and overflowing out of the reservoir tank. That pretty much crushed me as I knew I was going to have to get into some real engine work. So she sat again until August of 2014 when I finally had the time and money to start working her. It sucks that it took so long and I regret missing so much time I could have been riding but I have found my way again and here she goes. I am sure that I will need a lot of help and hopefully my build thread will be helpful to someone. I am not a pro by any means as this is the first time I have ever worked on a motorcycle engine but perhaps the mistakes that I have and am certain to continue to make will serve as  a learning experience for others who are inexperienced like me. Ill start her off with a picture of what she looked like when I first got her.

Yeah the hardtail can be a bit of a nuisance when you hit a big bump your not expecting! That is exactly what caused what was almost my first accident! Lessons learned!

So as for the initial changes I didn't do much. I swapped out handle bars and cleaned it up a bit to give it more of the look I like. I also rewired it because the previous wiring was really sloppy.

After I made those changes I rode for 5 months before a semi decided to cut me off and nearly kill me. The springer was ruined, the handlebars were bent, headlight smashed, sissy bar tore up, wheel crushed, etc. So after I healed up I started cleaning it up. It was sill running when I started so I got a new springer(much improved in my opinion) and replaced all of the things that had been damaged. I stripped it down and painted the fender and gas tank as well. When I had my accident I happened to be listening to Bad Luck by Social Distortion so it seemed fitting that I theme my bike after the song. So that explains the paint scheme. I did it all with spray paint which I know alot of people like to look down on but I feel that if you take the time and prep right you can make it look damn good. This isn't something I am going to enter into any shows, its just MY bike and I like that the custom work is done by me!
