While cleaning out all the carb jets, I discovered that two of the o-rings on the float bowl drain banjo bolt had split in two. Not wanting to buy a whole carb kit just for these o-rings, I made some measurements and determined that I needed a 5mm ID and 8mm OD ring. First I went to several hardware stores who had only plumbing o-rings which would not last long in that environment. And auto parts places had o-rings but not in the size I needed. I called two local rubber/gasket in-trade houses who dealt in the SAE equivalent sized o-rings in Viton but they had a minimum order: one was $30 and the other was $100.
Off to McMaster-Carr I went and found just what I needed in Viton at $4/25 (
http://www.mcmaster.com/#o-rings/=vq01u7). They fit perfectly and when the gas tap was turned on, nary a leak was found! And a quick ride around the block also revealed that my carb jet cleaning went well for full power was restored.
