Vale Ralph Briotti
« on: February 28, 2015, 03:40:09 AM »
Ralph Briotti finished second in the 1955 Western Australian Championship for speedway sidecars,
I was born in 1959.

Ralph was a true gentleman and a fierce competitor.

I first met Ralph in 2009, when we started racing historic sidecars.

I ruffled a few feathers when my mate Pat and I first started road racing.
We where used to the cut and thrust of dirt track and speedway.
Ralph educated us in the gentlemanly art of road racing. :)

My avatar is a picture of Ralph and his daughter Nicola with Pat and myself  on their outside halfway through the the sweeper leading onto Gardner Straight at Phillip Island.

I'm going to miss Ralph he was a good bloke.

Cheers,
Brian

That's a lifetime in racing, sounds like a proper character to have known. Godspeed Ralph.

He was Brent.
He was a quite bloke and was very economical in his conversation, the complete opposite to myself. ;)
But if he took the time to tell you something,  more fool you if you didn't listen.

He was very sick but didn't let on and kept racing nearly to the end.
He was what I have all ways aspired to.

A tough journeyman racer who was respected and loved across all levels of the sport.

Thanks for your thoughts Brent it's appreciated.

Cheers,
Brian

Brian, I didn't know Ralph.
Another from the generation of true grit and deserving of high respect.
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Every now and then , as we move through life ( if we're lucky ) we meet someone who is really worth knowing . It sounds like he was one of them. Regards Greg "H".
