Why would you steal a bike and leave the back wheel behind? That's be fcuking hard to ride, methinks? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

External locks will only slow someone down, if at all, especially if it's not locked to a stationary object.  If thieves want it badly enough, it'll be gone.  My brother had his GSX-R750 parked underneath an overhead storage unit in an apartment complex parking space, with his car parked in front of it, with a u-lock thru the rear swingarm, and it still got stolen.  Now if he had a cable and locked it to his car, that would've slowed them down, and might have even deterred them, but there's no way in knowing that now.

I'm kinda paranoid about leaving my bike in a public place where I can't see it, i.e. going to the movies.  I have my bikes in a public storage facility, with a lock thru the front rotors, and a thick cable going thru all the wheels, essentially locking them all together.  The lock on the rollup door has two locks on it as well.  I don't lose sleep at night, thinking they won't be there next time I want to go riding, because I've done pretty much everything I could to keep them secure, plus there's insurance.  But there's nothing like that "punch in the gut" feeling when something of yours gets stolen...

Yep, the key word is "insurance". All my bikes are insured against theft, so if the worst happens, I won't be out of pocket, and none of them are irreplaceable. Cheers, Terry. ;D

The general idea that someone thinks it's "okay" to steal another's property if they can get away with it is SICK. Go and earn your own things legitimately. If someone stole my bike, I'd love to have 5 minutes with them with no consequences.

Well I don't know about that mate, over here most Harleys are stolen by 1% clubs, then either used for spare parts or "re-birthed" with new VIN numbers etc. I don't know whether I'd like to have 5 minutes alone with my local Hells Angels chapter regardless of the consequences, I think I'd just take the insurance money and be happy............ ;D

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Hells Angels, Bandidos, Mongrels, etc. all just in their transition phase, like Bruce Jenner, lol...they're all testosterone-challenged, with all their badges and flair on their "cuts" (vests)...should put all these 1 percenters on a deserted island somewhere, let them kill each other, then whoever's left standing, nuke the island...

In the UK we must be insured for theft. It's the lowest insurance you can get....almost.
Fully comprehensive...covers everything including personal belongings. £92 per year for the CBR600 I just bought.

Third party, fire and theft. A few quid different but a bit of haggling if an accident involved. You pay the damage for the other vehicle.
Third party only. If your bike is stolen or spontaneously combustes you are snookered.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
