Topic: Tapping emulsion tube to carby thread

Does anyone know what size tap I need to retap the main jet threads on my 750  k2 carbys?

No answer here but those have a very course thread if your talking about the emulsion tube that goes in the carb body. Do not over tighten those when installing, that fitting on the carb can be fragile. Is that your problem or just the brass jet into the brass emulsion tube ?

The thread into the actual carburettor body needs a tidy up...

Got my carbys back from ultrasonic cleaning and blasting, so the threads in the carby body that the emulsion tube screws into are pretty sad and need a tap ran through them. Does anyone know the thread size?

  You should post a picture, is the post deteriorated that the emulsion tube goes into ? That is not uncommon. The emulsion tubes has course threads like mentioned earlier and do not take many turns to seat.  Pics in this case are worth 100 words.  Know that when the emulsion tube are set down there are still threads showing, they do not bottom out. Just wondering why the threads are bad, almost impossible to cross thread one ?

Measure the brass emulsion tube at the thread, if you have nothing else use an open end wrench..it will be a bit loose.
 Then get a pitch guage to measure pitch or use bolts from your bike..like 6x1.0 8x 1.25.....that sort of thing..
 Or just take it to a place that sells taps.
